Removing
– Observe the safety instructions. Refer to

 .

– Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to

⇒ “3.1 Parking/Auxiliary Heater and Fuel System Clean Work‐

ing Conditions”, page 4

 .

– Remove the right rear wheel. Refer to ⇒  Suspension, Wheels,

Steering; Rep. Gr.  44 ; Wheels, Tires; Changing a Wheel .

– Remove the right rear wheel housing liner. Refer to ⇒  Body

Exterior; Rep. Gr.  66 ; Wheel Housing Liner; Overview - Rear

Wheel Housing Liner .

– Remove the breather lines -1 and 2- from the EVAP canister.

Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to

⇒ “4.1 Connector Couplings, Disconnecting”, page 62

 .

– Unclip the breather line from bracket -arrows-.

– Remove the bolt -1-.
– Press in the hook -3- using a screwdriver.
– Remove the EVAP canister -2- downward from the bracket in

the direction of the -arrow-.

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

EVAP Canister, Removing and Instal‐

ling, without Fuel Tank Leak Detection

Removing
– Observe the safety instructions. Refer to

– Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to

⇒ “3.1 Parking/Auxiliary Heater and Fuel System Clean Work‐

ing Conditions”, page 4

 .

– Remove the right rear wheel. Refer to ⇒  Suspension, Wheels,

Steering; Rep. Gr.  44 ; Wheels, Tires; Changing a Wheel .

– Remove the right rear wheel housing liner. Refer to ⇒  Body

Exterior; Rep. Gr.  66 ; Wheel Housing Liner; Overview - Rear

Wheel Housing Liner .

– Release and disconnect the connector -1-.
– Remove the breather lines -2- and -3- from the EVAP Canister.

– Remove the bolt -arrow-.
– Using a screwdriver, lightly push the retainer -A- toward the

luggage compartment.

– Pull the EVAP canister downward from the guide bracket and

remove.

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
♦ Attach the bleed lines so that they click into place.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Hand Vacuum Pump - VAS6213-
♦ Pressure Tester Kit - VAS6550-
♦ Engine Bung Set - VAS6122-
EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 - N80- , Checking:
– Pay attention to all safety precautions. Refer to

⇒ “1 Safety Precautions”, page 1

 .

– Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to

⇒ “3.1 Parking/Auxiliary Heater and Fuel System Clean Work‐

ing Conditions”, page 4

 .

– Check the DTC memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester.
