Disengage fixing metal clip and pawls, and then remove instru-
ment lower panel LH.

b.

Disconnect harness connectors, harness clips and data link connector from instrument lower panel LH.

17. Remove side ventilator grille LH. Refer to 

VTL-12, "SIDE DEFROSTER GRILLE : Removal and Installa-

tion"

.

18. Remove instrument finisher A.

a.

Disengage fixing pawls and metal clips, and then remove instru-
ment finisher A.

b.

Disconnect harness connector from instrument finisher A.

19. Remove cluster lid A.

a.

Move to the position of tilt down and telescopic pull the steering wheel.

b.

Disengage fixing pawls, and then remove skirt portion of cluster
lid A.

c.

Disengage fixing pawls and metal clip, and then remove cluster
lid A according to numerical order 1

shown in the figure.

20. Remove combination meter. Refer to 

MWI-151, "Removal and Installation"

.

21. Remove sunload sensor. Refer to 

HAC-129, "Removal and Installation"

 (automatic air conditioning). (if

equipped)

22. Remove front pillar garnish LH and RH. Refer to 

INT-23, "FRONT PILLAR GARNISH : Removal and

Installation"

.

23. Disengage fixing pawls and metal clips, and then remove instrument garnish according to numerical order

2 indicated by arrows as shown in the figure.

24. Remove center ventilator grille. Refer to 

VTL-8, "CENTER VENTILATOR GRILLE : Removal and Installa-

tion"

.

25. Remove driver air bag module. Refer to 

SR-19, "Removal and Installation"

.

26. Remove steering wheel. Refer to 

ST-12, "Removal and Installation"

.

27. Remove steering column cover.

a.

Remove steering column cover fixing screws 

.

b.

Apply protective tapes (A) on the part to protect it from damage.

c.

Disengage fixing pawls from steering column cover front side.

Disengage fixing pawls using a remover tool (A), and then remove steering column cover upper by arrow
as shown in the figure.

Disengage fixing pawl, and then remove steering column cover
lower.

28. Remove spiral cable. Refer to 

SR-23, "Removal and Installation"

.

29. Remove steering angle sensor. Refer to 

BRC-222, "Removal and Installation"

. (if equipped)

30. Remove combination switch. Refer to 

BCS-122, "Removal and Installation"

31. Remove passenger air bag module mounting bolts 

.

32. Disconnect passenger air bag module harness connector 

.

INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY

• For installing/removing the passenger air bag module har-

ness connector, insert a thin screwdriver wrapped in tape
into notch, lift lock and remove the connector.

• Install the connector with lock raised, and push lock into

the connector.

• After installing the connector, check that the lock is

pushed securely into it.

33. Remove instrument panel assembly.

a.

Remove instrument panel assembly fixing screws 

 and mounting bolt 

.

b.

Disengage sunload sensor harness fixing clips. (if equipped)

c.

Disconnect harness connectors of front pillar LH and RH portions.

d.

Disengage harness fixing clips and remove harness from instrument panel assembly.

e.

Remove instrument panel assembly from passenger door opening portion.

CAUTION:

• Cover shift selector upper surface with a shop cloth to prevent it from being damaged.
• When removing instrument panel assembly, 2 workers are required to prevent it from dropping.

34. Remove the following parts after removing instrument panel assembly.

• Passenger air bag module: Refer to 

SR-26, "Removal and Installation"

.

• Center ventilator duct: Refer to 

VTL-10, "CENTER VENTILATOR DUCT : Removal and Installation"

.

• Side defroster grille (LH and RH): Refer to 

VTL-12, "SIDE DEFROSTER GRILLE : Removal and Instal-

lation"

.

• Side defroster nozzle (LH and RH): Refer to 

VTL-11, "SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE : Removal and

Installation"

.
