FRONT DRIVE SHAFT

3.

Line up alignment marks which were made when spider assem-
bly was removed. Install spider assembly, with serration chamfer
facing drive shaft.

4.

Secure spider assembly with snap ring.

CAUTION:

Discard the old snap ring: replace with new ones.

5.

Apply Nissan genuine grease or equivalent to spider assembly
and sliding surface.

6.

Install sliding joint housing to spider assembly. Add remaining
grease up to the amount listed below.

7.

Install boot securely into grooves (indicated by * marks) shown
in the figure.

CAUTION:

If there is grease on boot mounting surfaces (indicated by *
marks) of joint, boot may come off. Remove all grease from
surfaces.

8.

Check that boot installation length “L” is the length indicated
below. Insert a screwdriver or similar tool into smaller side of
boot. Remove air from boot to prevent boot deformation.

CAUTION:

Boot may break if boot installation length is less than
standard value.

Be careful that screwdriver tip does not contact inside
surface of boot.

9.

As shown in the figure, secure the big and small ends of the
boot with new boot bands.

10. Rotate joint part and confirm that mounting position of boot does

not deviate. When it deviates, mount a new boot band again.

CAUTION:

When fixing boot band, fix so that the M diameter on the
drawing becomes as follows.

Support Bearing (Joint type: D03300+SSG GRE)

1.

Using a drift (special service tool), press-fit support bearing into
housing.

2.

Install support bearing into support bearing housing, and then
secure with snap ring.

3.

Using a drift (special service tool), press-fit support bearing
assembly into housing.

M diameter (small ends)

D03300+SSG GRE

: 5mm (0.20 in)

4.

Secure support bearing assembly with snap ring.

5.

Using a brass and flat-bladed screwdriver, press-fit dust seal.

CAUTION:

When press-fitting, avoid deformation of dust seal.

Support Bearing (Joint type: BJ100TJ95+B)

1.

Using a drift (special service tool), press-fit support bearing.

2.

Using a brass and flat-bladed screwdriver, press-fit sleeve.

CAUTION:

When press-fitting, avoid deformation of sleeve.

Wheel Side

1.

Use a drift to press-fit sensor rotor into joint sub-assembly.

CAUTION:

Discard the old sensor rotor; replace with a new one.

Joint assembly cannot be disassembled. Do not attempt
to disassemble it.

2.

Wrap serrated portion of drive shaft with tape to prevent damage
to boot. Then install boot bands and boot onto shaft.

CAUTION:

Boot bands and boot cannot be reused. Do not attempt to
reuse them.

3.

Remove tape wrapped around serrated portion of shaft.

4.

Install a circlip onto shaft. When doing so, be sure that circlip is
securely fit in groove of shaft. Install a nut onto joint sub-assem-
bly, and use a wooden hammer to press-fit it into shaft.

CAUTION:

Circlips cannot be reused. Do not attempt to reuse them.

5.

From large-diameter side of boot, add NISSAN genuine grease
(from part catalog) to housing up to specified level.

6.

Install boot securely in groove shown [with an asterisk (*)] in fig-
ure.

CAUTION:

Remove grease adhering to joint boot installation area [with
an asterisk (*)]. Grease adhesion to boot installation area
may cause boot to come off.

7.

Check that length of boot (L) is as specified below. Then insert a
flat-bladed screwdriver from small-diameter side to adjust pres-
sure inside/outside boot to prevent deformation of boot.

CAUTION:

If installation length of boot is below standard, it may cause breakage to boot.

Take care not to contact inner surface of boot with tip of a screwdriver.
