REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS

<<A>> RADIATOR UPPER HOSE DISCONNECTION

Mating marks

Make mating marks on the radiator hose and the hose clamp.
Disconnect the radiator hose.

 

<<B>> ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
REMOVAL

MB992042

Use  special  tool  MB992042  to  remove  the  engine  coolant
temperature sensor.

Control wiring
harness

Remove the two control wiring harness clamps, and remove the
thermostat housing.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

>>A<< O-RING INSTALLATION

Do not allow engine oil or other grease to adhere to the O-
ring

Water inlet pipe

Thermostat housing
or bank stiffener

Insert the O-ring to the water inlet pipe, and coat the outer portion
of the O-ring with water or engine coolant.

Using the special tool MD998412, install the thermostat housing
while supporting the gasket.

1.

Apply the specified sealant to the thread of the engine coolant
temperature sensor.

Specified  Sealant:  3M™  AAD  Part  No.  8731  or
equivalent

2.

Use  special  tool  MB992042  to  install  the  engine  coolant
temperature sensor.

Mating marks

Projection

Thermostat housing

1.

Insert  each  hose  as  far  as  the  projection  of  the  thermostat
housing.

2.

Align the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp,
and then connect the radiator hose.

Water Pipe and Hose Check
Check the water pipe and hose for cracks, damage and clogs.
Replace them if necessary.
