IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE 

Removal & Installation (4.2L) 

Disconnect the battery ground cable. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector. Remove 
the two bolts and the IAC valve. See Fig. 86 . To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the bolts to 
specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Removal & Installation (4.6L & 5.4L 2V)) 

Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the bolts and the accelerator control splash shield. Remove the 
Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector. Disconnect the throttle bypass hose. Remove the bolts and the 
IAC valve. See Fig. 87 . To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the bolts to specification. See 
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Removal & Installation (5.4L 4V) 

Remove the bolts and the accelerator control snow shield. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve 
electrical connector. Remove the bolts, IAC valve and gasket. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Install 
a new IAC gasket. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Removal & Installation (Supercharged) 

Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) electrical connector (1). See Fig. 89 . Remove the bolts (2). Remove the 
IAC valve (3). To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE 
SPECIFICATIONS .
