Removal and installation
CLUTCH
5-13
Note:
When refitting an existing clutch release
assembly and clutch plate, the attachment
bolt (1) of the stop plate (2) must be
loosened before removing the clutch
release assembly. This prevents
deformation of the stop spring (3). A
deformed stop spring (3) will deflect the
automatically adjusting assembly to its
maximum extent, causing it to stop working
properly. If this happens you will have to
replace the clutch release assembly
complete with clutch plate. The
automatically adjusting assembly cannot be
reset manually.
4.
Fit the clutch release assembly, with the
stop plate (2) loosened, onto the flywheel.
5.
Fit the attachment bolts and tighten them
crosswise and evenly to the specified
torque. See “Technical data”.
Note:
Ensure that the stop plate (2) is positioned
below the stop spring (3) before you
tighten the attachment bolt (1).
This will prevent deformation of the stop
spring.
6.
Apply locking compound to the attachment
bolt (1) and tighten the bolt to the specified
torque. See “Technical data”.
7.
Apply a little grease to all pivoting points of
the release fork.
8.
If necessary, fit the thrust bearing.
9.
Fit the gearbox.
