Heat the inner race / tapered roller bearing to 100 °C (212 °F)

before installing.

Replace both tapered roller bearings together.

♦

Adjust the differential when replacing the tapered roller bear‐

ing, differential, transmission housing or clutch housing. Refer

to

Removing the Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing from the

Clutch Housing
– First remove the right flange shaft seal. Refer to

⇒ “1.3 Right Seal, Replacing”, page 185

 .

Installing Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing Into the Clutch

Housing
There is no adjusting shim on the side of the clutch housing.

Removing the Inner Races/Tapered Roller Bearings
– Mount the Press Piece - Multiple Use - 40-105- on the differ‐

ential housing before removing the puller.

Note

Both tapered roller bearing inner races are removed from the dif‐

ferential housing in the same way.

Installing the Inner Races/Tapered Roller Bearings

Note

Inner race/tapered roller bearing for transmission housing and

clutch housing are installed using the same special tools
