– Lightly sand inside of bumper cover -6- and clean thoroughly.
– Apply primer to bumper cover and bracket and allow to air for

10 minutes.

– Push bracket -8- onto centring pin -1- and through bumper

cover -6-.

– Push counterhold -4- on and gently tighten knurled nut -5-.
– Push clip -3- on and then place knurled nut -2- in position but

do not tighten it.

– All the brackets are prepared by this stage.

Note

The adhesive must not run into the angle.

– Remove all centring pins after minimum curing period, mini‐

mum curing period

Minimum curing period

Do not carry out any further work on bumper cover or brackets

until the minimum curing period of 30 minutes has expired.
In this time, the bumper cover must remain where it is and should

not be moved.

Assembly overview - front bumper cover

Note

There may be minor differences between bumper covers, depending on vehicle model.

1 - Front bumper cover

❑ Material PP/EPDM.
❑ Removing and installing

2 - Bolt

❑ Left and right.
❑ Points upwards.
❑ Specified torque: 2 Nm

3 - Bolt

❑ Qty. 4 on each side.
❑ Specified torque: 2 Nm
❑ Bolted to wheel housing

liner.

4 - Bolt

❑ Qty. 2 on each side.
❑ Specified torque: 2 Nm
❑ Bolted to wheel housing

liner.

5 - Bolt

❑ Qty. 4.
❑ Specified torque: 2 Nm
❑ Bolted to lock carrier.

Note

The removal and installation procedures for front bumper cover

may have to be revised slightly depending on model variations.

1.5.1

Removing

Carry out following work:
– Remove radiator grille 

⇒ page 261

 .

– Undo bolts -2- in wheel housing (pointing upwards) on left and

right.

– Remove bolts -3- for fastening wheel housing liner on left and

right.

– Unscrew bolts -4- from underneath.
Further dismantling requires the assistance of a second mechan‐

ic.

– With the aid of a second mechanic, pull front bumper cover

-1- parallel -arrows d- off vehicle.

– Remove connectors of all installed electrical components.

– Disconnect washer fluid hose connectors (if there are any) ⇒

1.5.2

Installing

Carry out following work:
– Connect washer fluid hose connectors (if there are any) ⇒ 

Electrical system; Rep. gr.  92 .

– Connect connectors of all installed electrical components.
– Place front bumper cover -1- onto middle guide on lock carrier,

keeping cover parallel to guide.
