REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from

the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery

terminal notice before proceeding with work

2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

4. REMOVE FUEL TANK CAP

5. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Rough Road Area

Specification Vehicles) 

6. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

7. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK RETURN TUBE 

8. DISCONNECT VENT LINE HOSE 

9. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 

10. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK TO FILLER PIPE HOSE 

11. DISCONNECT OUTLET NO. 1 CANISTER HOSE 

12. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY 

13. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE TUBE ASSEMBLY

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE FUEL SENDER GAUGE

(a) Disconnect the fuel sender gauge connector.

(b) Press down on the sender gauge claw labeled A. Then slide

the sender gauge upward to remove it.

2. REMOVE SUB TANK SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the fuel pump connector.

(c) Disconnect the fuel tube.

(d) Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws from the claw holes.

HINT:

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(e) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws from the claw holes

and remove the sub tank.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the fuel sub tank.

HINT:

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE FUEL PUMP

(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 5 claws from the claw holes

and disconnect the fuel pump from the suction plate with

filter.

HINT:

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(b) Remove the fuel pump harness.

(c) Remove the O-ring and spacer from the fuel pump.
