INSPECTION

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the LO operation.

(1) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 (+1) of

the connector and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 5

(E), and check that the motor operates at low speed (LO).

OK:

Motor operates at low speed (LO).

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.

(b) Check the HI operation.

OK:

Motor operates at high speed (HI).

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.

(c) Check the automatic stop operation.

(1) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 (+1) of

the connector and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 5

(E). With the motor operating at low speed (LO), disconnect

terminal 1 (+1) to stop the wiper motor operation at any

position other than the automatic stop position.

(2) Using SST, connect terminals 3 (+S) and 1 (+1). Then

SST: 09843-18040

(3) Check that the motor stops automatically at the automatic

stop position.

OK:

Automatically stops.

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the wiper motor with the 3 bolts.

Torque:

7.5 N·m {75 kgf·cm, 66in·lbf}

2. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the wiper motor and link assembly with the 4 bolts and

nut.

Torque:

7.0 N·m {71 kgf·cm, 62in·lbf}

WIPER AND WASHER: FRONT WIPER MOTOR: INSTALLATION; ...

(b) Connect the connector.

3. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Push the ventilator louver in the direction indicated by the arrow

in the illustration to attach 8 claws and 2 clips, and install the

ventilator louver.

4. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

(a) Attach the claw to install the cowl side seal.

5. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH

HINT:

Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

6. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL

(a) Attach the 16 claws and install the cowl top seal.

7. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

WIPER AND WASHER: FRONT WIPER MOTOR: INSTALLATION; ...

(a) Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

(b) Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.

(c) Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.

(d) Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the

wiper arm and blade comes to the position shown in the

illustration.

Standard measurement:

23.9 mm (0.941 in.)

B

35.5 mm (1.40 in.)

Torque:

25 N·m {255 kgf·cm, 18ft·lbf}

HINT:

Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening

the nut.
