Changing Spark Plugs

1.

Disconnect ignition wires from spark plugs at boot.

CAUTION:

Do not pull on the wire.

2.

Remove spark plugs with spark plug wrench.

Spark Plug

Use standard type spark plug under normal conditions.
The cold type spark plug is suitable when spark knock occurs with the standard type spark plug under
conditions such as:

●

extended highway driving

●

frequent high engine revolution

●

Do not use a wire brush for cleaning.

●

If plug tip is covered with carbon, spark plug cleaner may be
used.

Checking and adjusting plug gap is not required between
change intervals.

3.

Install spark plugs. Reconnect ignition wires according to num-
bers indicated on them.

Checking EVAP Vapor Lines

ELS000XG

1.

Visually inspect EVAP vapor lines for improper attachment and
for cracks, damage, loose connections, chafing and deteriora-
tion.

2.

Inspect fuel tank filler cap vacuum relief valve for clogging and
sticking. Refer to 

EC-564, "EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYS-

TEM"

 .

Changing Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Filter

ELS000XH

Remove air cleaner cover and take out PCV filter located inside air cleaner cover. Then install new PCV filter.

Spark plug gap (nominal)

:1.1 mm (0.043 in)

Inspect belt for cracks, fraying, wear and oil. If necessary, replace.

2.

Inspect drive belt deflection or tension at a point on the belt midway between pulleys using Tool.

NOTE:

●

Inspect drive belt deflection or tension when engine is cold.

●

Adjust if belt deflections exceed the limit or if belt tension is not within specifications

●

Drive belt tension can be checked at other points on the belt.
