POSSIBLE DRIVING DISTANCE

The calculated possible driving distance may differ from the actual distance to empty if the refueling amount is
approximately 9   (2 Imp gal) or less. This is because the refuel control (moves the fuel gauge needle quicker
than normal judging that the driver is refueling the vehicle) is not performing.

1.

Remove the cluster lid A. Refer to 

IP-13, "Removal and Installation"

.

2.

Remove screws, connector, and clips, and then remove combination meter.

INSTALLATION

Install in the reverse order of removal.

Disassembly and Assembly

Disengage the tabs to separate front cover.

Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

Inspection and Adjustment

INSPECTION

Lever Stroke

1.

Operate the parking brake lever with a force of 196 N (20 kg, 44 lb). Check that the lever stroke is within
the specified number of notches. (Check it by listening to the clicks of the ratchet.)

2.

When parking brake warning lamp turns ON, check that the lever stroke is within the specified number of
notches. (Check it by listening to the clicks of the ratchet.)

Inspect Components

• Check each component for installation condition such as looseness.
• Check the parking brake lever assembly for bend, damage and cracks. Replace if necessary.
• Check the cables and equalizer for wear, damage and cracks. Replace if necessary.
• Check the parking brake switch, and replace it if necessary. Refer to 

BRC-5, "Component Inspection"

.

ADJUSTMENT

1.

Pull parking brake lever until a socket wrench can be inserted to
adjusting nut.

2.

Turning the adjusting nut with a socket wrench and loosening
the front cable.

3.

Depress the brake pedal with a force of 196 N (20 kg, 44 lb)
about 10 times and adjust the brake shoe clearance.

CAUTION:

Make sure to securely operate the brake pedal.

4.

Check a drag of rear drum brake. Refer to 

BR-41, "Inspection

and Adjustment"

.

5.

Adjust the cable with the following procedure.

a.

Operate and maintain the parking brake lever with a 400 N (41 kg, 90 lb) for 30 minutes or more.

b.

Adjust the parking brake lever stroke by turning the adjusting nut with a socket wrench.

CAUTION:

Never reuse the adjusting nut if the nut is removed.

c.

Operate the parking brake lever with a force of 196 N (20 kg, 44lb). Check that the lever stroke is within
the specified number of notches. (Check it by listening to the clicks of the ratchet.)

d.

Rotate the brake drum with the parking brake lever released and check that there is no drag. Refer to 

BR-

41, "Inspection and Adjustment"

.
