Control by combination meter

• Illumination control function

ILLUMINATION CONTROL

• BCM detects the combination switch condition by the combination switch reading function.
• BCM transmits position light request signal to IPDM E/R and combination meter according to tail lamp ON

condition. Refer to 

EXL-26, "PARKING, LICENSE PLATE AND TAIL LAMP SYSTEM : System Description"

(LED headlamp) or 

EXL-195, "PARKING, LICENSE PLATE AND TAIL LAMP SYSTEM : System Descrip-

tion"

 (halogen headlamp).

• IPDM E/R turns the integrated smart FET ON according to position light request signal. It provides the power

supply to illumination lamp. 

• Combination meter enters in the nighttime mode according to position light request signal and provides the

power supply to illumination lamp.

OUTLINE

Spicy illumination is controlled by each function or BCM and combination meter.

SPICY ILLUMINATION CONTROL

Spicy Illumination ON/OFF operation

Spicy illumination turns ON/OFF when interior room lamp is turned ON/OFF by interior room lamp timer con-
trol.

Spicy Illumination Output Duty

• BCM detects the combination switch condition by the combination switch reading function.
• BCM receives light sensor signal from light & rain sensor via light & rain sensor serial link.
• BCM judges daytime or nighttime according to the combination switch condition and light sensor signal.
• BCM decides the output duty of spicy illumination depends on the judgement of daytime or nighttime and

illumination control output duty signal from combination meter.

• Spicy illumination turns ON gradually and turns OFF gradually (Gradual brightening time and gradual dim-

ming time are changed with the output duty of spicy illumination).

Each function of spicy illumination can be set by CONSULT. Refer to

The BCM records the following vehicle condition at the time a particular DTC is detected, and displays on
CONSULT.

The BCM part number is displayed.

• Read and save the vehicle specification.
