DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. Check the power supply circuit.
When the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK 
(OFF) position, check if the hazard warning lamps 
illuminate.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 2.

NO : 

Refer to Inspection Procedure A-2 "When 
the ignition switch is at the LOCK (OFF) 
position, the functions do not work normally. 
Check the battery power supply circuit to 
the ETACS-ECU

Step 2. Pulse check
Check the input signals below, which are related to 
the interior lamps (room lamp, luggage compartment 
lamp).

OK: The M.U.T.-II sounds or the voltmeter 
needle fluctuates.

Q: Is the check result normal?

All the signals are received normally. : 

Go to Step 

3.

The ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received. : 

Refer to Inspection Procedure N-2 "The 
ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received

."

The key reminder switch signal is not received. : 

Refer to Inspection Procedure N-7 "The key 
reminder switch signal is not received

All the door switch signals are not received. : 

Refer to Inspection Procedure N-10 "All the 
door switch signals are not received

The driver's door lock actuator switch signal is not 
received. : 

Refer to Inspection Procedure N-11 

"The driver's door lock actuator switch 
signal is not received

Step 3. Retest the system.
When the room lamp and the luggage compartment 
lamp switches are set to the DOOR or ON position, 
the room lamp and the luggage compartment lamp 
should illuminate normally.

Q: Is the check result normal?

The lamp illuminates at neither the ON or DOOR 
position.  : 

Go to Step 4.

The lamp does not illuminate at the DOOR position. 

Go to Step 6.

The lamp does not illuminate at the ON position. : 

Go to Step 8.

Step 4. Connector check: C-04 room lamp 
connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 5.

NO : 

Repair the defective connector.

When the inserted 
ignition key is pulled out

All of the door switches

A door is opened when 
all the doors are closed

Driver's door lock

Step 5. Check the wiring harness from C-04 room 
lamp connector terminal No.3 to fusible link (1).

NOTE: 

Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check interme-
diate connector C-02 and junction block connector 
B-108 and B-113 repair if necessary.

• Check the power supply line for open circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

The trouble can be an intermittent 

malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 

− How to 

use Troubleshooting/inspection Service 
Points 

− How to Cope with Intermittent 

Malfunction 

P.00-13

).

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 6. Connector check: B-134 ETACS-ECU 
connector, C-04 room lamp connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 7.

NO : 

Repair the defective connector.

Step 7. Check the wiring harness from B-134 
ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.18 to C-04 
room lamp connector terminal No.1

NOTE: 

Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check interme-
diate connector C-02 and junction block connector 
B-113 repair if necessary.

• Check the input and output lines for open circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Replace the ETACS-ECU.

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 8. Connector check: C-04 room lamp 
connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 9.

NO : 

Repair the defective connector.

Step 9. Check the wiring harness from C-04 room 
lamp connector terminal No.2 to body earth.

NOTE: 

Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check interme-
diate connector C-02 and junction block connector 
B-113 and B-130 repair if necessary.

• Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 10.

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 10. Check the SWS monitor customised 
function.
Use the SWS monitor customise function to confirm 
that "RM LMP TN OFF" is set to other than "W/O 
FUNCTION".

CAUTION

The SWS monitor must be used in order to con-
firm and change that setting. Use the SWS moni-
tor to confirm and/or change the customised 
function.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Replace the ETACS-ECU.

NO : 

Use the SWS monitor customise function to 
set the "RM LMP TN OFF" to other than 
"W/O FUNCTION" (Refer to GROUP 54C
