REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

CAUTION

The vehicle speed detection encoder collects any metallic particle easily, because it is magnetised. 
Make sure that the encoder should not collect any metallic particle. Check that there is not any trou-
ble prior to reassembling it.

NOTE:

The encoder for detecting front wheel speed is a 
non-disassemble part integrated with the wheel 
bearing.

•

The encoder for detecting rear wheel speed is a 
non-disassemble part press fitted to the rear hub 
inner ring.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINT
>>A<< FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR 
HEAT PROTECTOR INSTALLATION

Align the end of the white marking of the front wheel 
speed sensor with the edge of the front wheel speed 
sensor heat protector as shown in the figure.

CURRENT INSPECTION OF WHEEL 
SPEED SENSOR

CAUTION

To prevent the wheel speed sensor damage, ver-
ify that the battery terminals are normal.

1. Connect the circuit tester to the wheel speed 

sensor using the probe (special tool MB991222), 
and measure the sensor current as a single unit.

Standard value: 5.9 - 8.4mA

2. If not within the specification, replace the wheel 

speed sensor with a new one.

INSULATION INSPECTION OF WHEEL 
SPEED SENSOR

1. Measure the insulation resistance of the wheel 

speed sensor between the terminals No.1/No.2 
and wheel speed sensor body as a single unit.

Standard value: 5 - 100 M

Ω

2. If not within the specification, replace the wheel 

speed sensor with a new one.
