52B-205

After inspecting intermediate connectors C-202,
C-01 <LHD>, C-33 <RHD> and C-205 inspect the
wiring harness. If intermediate connectors C-202,
C-01 <LHD>, C-33 <RHD> and C-205 are damaged,
repair or replace them. Then go to Step 3
.

Q: Are the harness wires between SRS-ECU

connector C-119 (terminal No.23 and 24) and
ignition switch connector C-307 (terminal No.2) in
good condition?
YES :

Go to Step 3 .

NO :

Replace the harness wires between
SRS-ECU connector C-119 and ignition
switch connector C-307. Then go to Step 3 .

STEP 3. Retest the system.

Q: Can the SRS-ECU communicate with the MUT-III?

YES :

It can be assumed that this malfunction is

intermittent. Refer to GROUP 00, How to
Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service
Points

− How to Cope with Intermittent

Malfunction

P.00-5

.

NO :

Replace the SRS-ECU (Refer to

P.52B-223

).

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)

• The SRS-ECU sends the SRS warning lamp

signal to the combination meter via the CAN
communication.

• This may be caused by faults in the CAN bus line,

the combination meter or the SRS-ECU.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Damaged wiring harness or connector

• Combination meter defect

• Malfunction of the SRS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. MUT-III CAN bus diagnostics
Use the MUT-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES :

Replace the SRS-ECU. (Refer

to

P.52B-223

).

NO :

Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP
54D, Diagnosis

P.54D-16

).

DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE

M1524003500050

The following items can be read by the MUT-III from
the ABS-ECU input data.

ACTUATOR TEST REFERENCE TABLE

M1524003600057

The MUT-III activates the following actuators for
testing.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

M1524003700043

If the SRS-ECU determines that the following parts
are defective, the SRS-ECU operates the SRS
warning lamp and controls as follows.

• If the seat slide sensor is defective, the SRS-ECU

determines that the seat is in its backward
position and controls the air bag.

• When the passenger’s air bag cut off switch is

defective, control the air bag by turning the
passenger’s air bag cut off switch air bag ON
position.
