3. Install the oil pan. For additional information, refer to OIL PAN - 4X2, 4.6L , OIL PAN - 

4X2, 5.4L or OIL PAN - 4X4 .  

FLEXPLATE - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 

Removal 

All Vehicles  

CAUTION: The oil pump must be primed prior to starting the engine.

NOTE:

On 4x2 vehicles, the oil pump screen and pickup tube is 
installed with the oil pan.

 

2003 Ford Pickup F150

1. Remove the transmission. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC 

TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION-4R100 or AUTOMATIC 
TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION-4R70W . 

Romeo Engine (4.6L)  

2. Remove the bolts and flexplate.

3. Remove the bolts and flexplate.

Installation 

Romeo Engine (4.6L)  

1. Position the flexplate and install the bolts. 

Tighten the bolts in two stages:  

Stage 1: Loosely install the bolts.  

Stage 2: Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
