24. Remove the six transfer case-to-transmission bolts and separate the transfer case from the transmission.

25. Lower the transfer case from the vehicle.  

26. Remove the transfer case-to-transmission gasket and clean the mounting surfaces.

INSTALLATION 

TRANSFER CASE 

Installation 

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. 

z

Install a new transfer case-to-transmission mounting gasket.  

z

Fill the transfer case. For additional information, refer to TRANSFER CASE DRAINING AND 
FILLING and to SPECIFICATIONS for the correct type and quantity of fluid.

Tighten the transfer case-to-transmission bolts evenly in a star pattern.  

z

Make sure the torsion bar adjuster bolt measurement is equal to the measurement taken during 
removal.

2. Check the ride height and adjust as necessary. For additional information, refer to RIDING HEIGHT .  

3. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary. For additional information, refer to WHEEL 

ALIGNMENT PROCEDURES .
