FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR 

See FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR under SENSORS & SWITCHES. 

VAPOR TUBE FITTINGS 

Disconnect battery ground cable. Disconnect vapor tube from the fitting. Squeeze fitting. See Fig. 141 . 
Disconnect vapor tube from fitting. Inspect fitting and tube for damage. Remove any dirt or obstructions. Push 
tube into fitting until it snaps in place. Pull on the connection to make sure the fitting is secure.

WARNING:

The evaporative emission system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel 
vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger 
of explosion or fire.

DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE FEEDBACK EGR SENSOR 

See DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE FEEDBACK EGR SENSOR under SENSORS & SWITCHES. 

EGR VALVE 

Removal & Installation (4.2L) 

Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve vacuum hose. Disconnect the EGR valve tube upper 
fitting. Remove the bolts. See Fig. 142 . Remove the EGR valve. Discard the gasket. The EGR valve sealing 
surfaces are soft metals. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Carefully clean all sealing surfaces and 
install a new EGR valve gasket. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Removal & Installation (4.6L) 

Remove throttle body splash shield or engine appearance cover. Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose. 
Remove the brake booster tube bracket nut and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose. See Fig. 143 . 
Disconnect the EGR valve tube upper fitting. Remove the bolts and the EGR valve. See Fig. 144 . Discard the 
gasket. Clean the gasket surfaces and install a new EGR gasket. To complete installation, reverse the removal 
procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
