Expedition & Navigator 

Disconnect the battery. Remove the left rear interior trim panel. Remove Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch 
connector and the 2 retaining bolts. Remove the IFS switch. See Fig. 74 . To install, reverse removal procedure.

HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 

Removal 

Unplug electrical connector from Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). Sensor may be difficult to remove when 
engine temperature is less than 120°F (48°C). Carefully remove HO2S sensor from exhaust pipe. 

Installation 

When replacing HO2S, coat threads with anti-seize compound before installation. New sensors should already 
have this compound applied to threads. Install HO2S sensor. Tighten HO2S sensor to specification. See 
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Reconnect wiring connector to HO2S. 

INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR 

Removal & Installation (4.2L, 4.6L & 5.4L Except Supercharged) 

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is located in air cleaner outlet tube. Disconnect negative battery cable. 
Disconnect IAT sensor electrical connector. See Fig. 75 . Remove IAT sensor. To install, reverse removal

Removal & Installation (5.4L Supercharged - Air Cleaner Sensor) 

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is located in side of air cleaner housing. Disconnect IAT sensor electrical 
connector. See Fig. 76 . Remove IAT sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (5.4L Supercharged - Intake Manifold Sensor) 

1. Remove the front EGR vacuum regulator bracket assembly nut. Remove the EGR vacuum regulator 

bracket assembly bolts. Remove the rear EGR vacuum regulator bracket assembly nut. Disconnect the 
Barometric (BARO) pressure sensor electrical connector. See Fig. 57 .  

2. Disconnect the supercharger bypass vacuum solenoid vacuum lines and electrical connector. Disconnect 

the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor electrical connector and two hoses. See Fig. 71 .  

3. Disconnect the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) vacuum lines and the electrical connector. Remove the 

EVR bracket assembly. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector (1). See 
Fig. 77 . Remove the IAT sensor (2). To install, reverse the removal procedure.
