See SUPERCHARGER BY-PASS SOLENOID under MOTORS, RELAYS & SOLENOIDS.

THROTTLE BODY 

Removal (Except 5.4L 4V) 

Remove air cleaner and duct assembly. Remove accelerator shield, if equipped. Disconnect accelerator cable 
from throttle lever. Disconnect cruise control actuator (if equipped). Remove accelerator cable bracket and set 
aside. Disconnect electrical connectors, vacuum lines and vapor hose as necessary. Remove 4 bolts retaining 
throttle body assembly to intake manifold. See Fig. 51 or Fig. 52 . Remove throttle body.

Installation 

Clean gasket mating surfaces. Clean and oil bolt threads. Install NEW gasket. Tighten bolts to specification. See 
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. 

Removal & Installation (5.4L 4V) 

1. Remove the air cleaner resonator and outlet tube assembly. Remove the engine appearance cover. 

Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.  

2. Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control cable, and the return spring. Remove the throttle body 

bolts and remove throttle body. See Fig. 53 . Remove and discard the throttle body gasket.  

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE 

SPECIFICATIONS .

COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS 

For component locations, see Fig. 54 . 

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems 

may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer 
systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN 
PROCEDURES article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section before 
disconnecting battery.
