Removal & Installation 

Release CNG fuel system pressure. See COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS FUEL LINE VENTING under 
FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Disconnect the fuel line. See Fig. 16 . Remove the nut and the fill 
valve. See Fig. 27 . To install, reverse the removal procedure. Use only new natural gas approved "O" ring seals 
upon installation. Lubricate the "O" ring seals with Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil. After installation is 
complete, fuel lines and fittings must be leak tested. See LEAK TEST - ALL BI-FUEL VEHICLES under 
FUEL SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - BI-FUEL - GASOLINE/CNG article. Fill and 
bleed the cooling system.

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR 

NOTE:

See FUEL SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS .

CAUTION: If CNG system is being disconnected for an extended period, cover all 

open hose fittings and electrical connections to avoid contamination.

WARNING:

DO NOT reuse copper washers in low-pressure fittings, always use NEW 
copper washers.

Removal & Installation 

1. Release CNG fuel system pressure. See COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS FUEL LINE VENTING 

under FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain engine cooling 
system.  

2. Disconnect pressure relief vent hose. See Fig. 28 . Disconnect fuel lines. See Fig. 29 . Disconnect 

electrical connector and 2 coolant hoses from fuel pressure regulator. See Fig. 30 and Fig. 31 . Remove 2 
bolts retaining fuel pressure regulator and remove fuel pressure regulator. See Fig. 32 . To install, reverse 
removal procedure. After installation is complete, fuel lines and fittings must be leak tested. See LEAK 
TEST - ALL BI-FUEL VEHICLES 
under FUEL SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING 
- BI-FUEL - GASOLINE/CNG article. Fill and bleed the cooling system.

NOTE:

Coolant lines may be attached to either coolant fitting of fuel pressure 
regulator. There is no preferred coolant flow direction. Ensure all coolant hoses 
DO NOT come in contact with engine mount bolts or other components. When 
vehicle battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive 
symptoms may occur until vehicle relearns adaptive strategy.

NOTE:

On installation, use NEW "O" rings. Lubricate NEW "O" rings with 5W-30 motor 
oil.
