2. Perform the fuel system leak test procedure; Refer to FUEL SYSTEM LEAK TEST .  

SOLENOID VALVE - FUEL TANK 

Removal 

1. Remove the fuel tank(s); refer to the FUEL TANK - FORWARD IN-BED , FUEL TANK - MIDSHIP 

or FUEL TANK - REAR IN-BED . 

2. Remove the fuel tank solenoid valve electrical connector. 

1. Remove the retaining screws.  

CAUTION: When removing the fuel tank solenoid valve electrical connector, it is 

possible that the connector pins may disengage from the solenoid 
valve.

2. Remove the fuel tank solenoid valve electrical connector.

3. Remove the fuel tank solenoid valve.

Installation 

NOTE:

Replace fuel tank solenoid O-ring seal.

NOTE:

Lubricate the fuel tank solenoid O-ring seal with 5W30 engine oil meeting 
Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G or equivalent prior to installation, to 
help seal and ease the installation.

1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. 

WARNING:

The maximum gap between the solenoid valve and the fuel tank 
sealing surface must not be exceeded. If the gap is exceeded, fuel 
leakage may occur resulting in a flammable mixture, which could 
ignite and cause personal injury.
