3. Slide the brake drum (4) off the wheel mounting studs of the hub and bearing (5) and remove it BACKING OFF SHOE ADJUSTMENT 1. Remove the plug from the rear of the support plate below the wheel cylinder. 2. Insert a small screwdriver through the access hole (2) in the support plate, under the adjuster, against 3. While pushing on the pawl with the screwdriver to disengage it from the adjuster wheel teeth, rotate 4. Once the adjuster screw is backed off a sufficient amount, slide the drum off the wheel mounting INSTALLATION NOTE: Before installing drum, inspect brake shoe linings for wear, alignment, and contamination. Repair or NOTE: If rust or any foreign material is present on hub, drum or wheel mating surfaces, wet wire brush 1. Properly remove any buildup formed along outer edge of drum’s machined braking surface. 2. Adjust the brake shoes-to-drum diameter using a brake shoe gauge.
