(1) Tighten until the split pin fits (max. 60

). It is not allowed to fit a self-locking nut instead of a castle nut.

(2) Check the ball end thread for damage before fitting a new self-locking nut.

To do so, hand-tighten a non-self-locking nut on the ball joint to be checked.

If the new nut cannot be fully hand-screwed onto the entire thread, the ball end must be replaced.

Fit new self-locking nut. Apply Loctite 243 to the nut.

(3) Fit new self-locking nut.

Fitting a new self-locking nut to a

ball end with a damaged thread may

lead to dangerous situations.

Toe
The toe is shown in a graph.

Note:

The graphs are constructed so that at 75% of the

permissible loading weight, the toe has a value of

0.5

≥ 1 mm/m toe-in. The axle load is made up of

the unladen axle weight + loading weight.

Graph explanation
1.

At the top of the graph, the axle type is

shown with axle configuration (1).

2.

With some axles, a distinction is made

between the disc brake version and the drum

brake version. To this end there is an

illustration (2) of a disc brake or a drum brake

at the top of the graph.

3.

On the left-hand side of the graph, the toe is

shown in mm/m. The values above the 0 line

show toe-in values, indicated by symbol (3).

The values under the 0 line show toe-out

values, indicated by symbol (4). The toe-out

values are indicated by negative values.

4.

At the bottom of the graph, the axle load (5)

is shown.

5.

The permitted toe at any axle load can be

read from the shaded area (6) in the graph.

6.

If the value measured lies outside the

shaded area, the toe must be adjusted to the

value indicated by the uninterrupted line (7).
