1. Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe nuts from the top of the flywheel housing.
2. Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe studs.

3. Remove the flywheel housing bolts.
4. Separate the flywheel housing from the cylinder block using J 37228 . See Special Tools .
5. Remove the flywheel housing.
IMPORTANT: The upper oil pan must be removed before removing the
flywheel housing.

6. Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe gasket from the flywheel housing.
7. Remove the oil cooler adapter bolts.
8. Remove the oil cooler adapter with gaskets.
ENGINE MOUNTING TO STAND

After the flywheel housing has been removed, mount the engine block to a suitable engine stand.
CAUTION: Do not mount the engine to a engine stand by the flywheel
housing. The aluminum flywheel housing is not designed to
support the weight of the engine when mounted to a typical
rear-mount engine stand. Mounting the engine stand to the
aluminum flywheel housing may result in engine damage and
serious personal injury.
