Beginning

Ignition off, connect scan tool.

Turn ignition to ON position

Enter 03 (electronic brake) at ADDRESS

Is there communication?

YES

go to FAULT W/O CODEDIAGNOSTIC
CHART
go to FAULT CHECK CHART,
WITHOUT CODES

Enter 02 (error inquiry) at ADDRESS

Intermittent fault (display with /SP)

Continuous Fault

Clearing fault code

Recording fault code

Go to INTERMITTENT FAULT

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE,

repair problem.

Go to FAULT W/CODE DIAGNOSTIC CHART,

repair problem.

2. Fault Diagnostic Precaution

ABS is an electronic hydraulic controlled system and below condition is normal when ABS is under normal

operating condition.

Condition Explanation

System self-check sound

After engine on, bumping similar sound may occurs from

engine compartment sometime. It is the sound of ABS

system self-check and is normal.

Sound when ABS operating

1. Sound of motor running in ABS hydraulic unit.

2. Sound of brake pedal viabrating.

3. When ABS operating, creaking sound from suspension

dashing or friction sound between tire and ground。

Note: Tire may also creak when ABS is under normal

operating.

ABS operating, but a long brake distance.

When running on snowy or sandy road, a ABS installed

vehicle braking distance is longer than a vehicle without

ABS sometime. Special care shall be used when driving

on such road surface.

3. Scan Tool, Operating Method and Function Introduction

3.1 Operating Method

* Ignition off, connect scan tool to diagnostic connector, then turn ignition on.

* Enter 03, then press Q key，ABS will be in operation condition.

* Enter the function code.

* Enter 06, then press Q key，exiting。

* After power off, remove scan tool.

3.2 Function Introduction

* Function 01—condition information display

* Function 02—fault inquiry

* Function 03—hydraulic controlled unit diagnostic

* Function 04—filling fluid and bleeding

* Function 05—clearing fault codes memory

* Function 06—end，exit.

* Function 07—controller programme

* Function 08—measured data display (such as wheel speed signal etc.)

3.3 Key

* Key C — Cancel, change input data and current menu

* Key Q — Confirm entering

* Key → — Next

* Key HELP — Help Information

4. Intermittent Fault Repair Precaution

In electronic controlled system, instantaneous contact problem at circuit or signal input & output area may occur, causing

intermittment fault or fault code set during ECU self-check. If symptom continuously exists, determine defective part

referring to FAULT W/CODE DIAGNOSTIC CHART. The problem is hard to locate beacue fault source may disappear

at some time.

In such cases, simulate following condition and check if problem occurs again:

I. When viabrating is the main possible causes:

* Slightly wiggle connector;

* Slightly wiggle wiring harness;

* Slightly shake sensor;

* Slightly shake other moving parts (wheel bearing).

Note: Replace with a new part when wiring harness is broken for high tension, especially for a temporary sensor short or

open causing by suspension system moving up and down when vehicle operating, therefore a vehicle drive test is must

when check sensor signal.

Ⅱ.When overheat or overcold is the main possible causes:

* Dry suspected part with a drier;

* Check if there is a cold welding condition using cold spraying agent.

Ⅲ. When over circuit contact resistance is the main possible cause:

* Turn on all accessories including headlight and rear defrost switch.

If the problem does not occur again, diagnose it till the problem occurs next time. In most cases, intermittent fault will be

worse and will not get better.
