DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

SYMPTOM: Rear window defogger does not activate, or does
not go off after activating.

CHECK REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER OUTPUT SIGNAL

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
2. Check voltage between smart entrance control unit harness connector M100 terminal 31 (W) and ground.

Rear window defogger relay

Rear window defogger circuit

Rear window defogger filament
(Refer to EL-184.)

CHECK DEFOGGER RELAY COIL SIDE CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect smart entrance control unit connector.
2. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
3. Check voltage between smart entrance control unit harness connector M100 terminal 31 (W) and ground.

10A fuse [No. 10, located in the fuse block (J/B)]

Rear window defogger relay

I

Harness for open or short between 10A fuse [No. 10, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
and rear window defogger relay

Harness for open or short between rear window defogger relay and smart entrance
control unit

CHECK REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL

1. Connect smart entrance control unit connector.
2. Disconnect multi-function switch connector.
3. Check voltage between smart entrance control unit harness connector M99 terminal 22 (L/Y) and ground.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND IGNITION INPUT SIGNAL

Check voltage between smart entrance control unit harness connector M100 terminal 29 (Y/G) and M101 terminals 56
(R/B) and ground.

CHECK CONTROL UNIT GROUND CIRCUIT

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check continuity between smart entrance control unit terminal 53 (B) and ground.

Replace smart entrance control unit.

Repair harness or connectors.

CHECK REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect smart entrance control unit connector.
2. Check continuity between multifunction switch harness connector M102 terminal 9 (L/Y) and smart entrance control unit

harness connector M99 terminal 22 (L/Y).

3. Check continuity between multifunction switch harness connector M102 terminal 9 (L/Y) and ground.

1. Connect multifunction switch connector and smart entrance control unit connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Check voltage between multifunction switch harness connector M102 terminal 9 (L/Y) and ground.
