CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

3. Disconnect the harness connectors E152 and M31.

4. Check the continuity between the harness connector and the data link connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Check the following items again.

• Decision of CAN system type.

• Not received CONSULT-III data [SELF-DIAG RESULTS, CAN DIAG SUPPORT MNTR (“ECU

list” included)].

• Procedure for detecting root cause.

YES (Past error)>>Error was detected in the main line between the air bag diagnosis sensor unit and the

data link connector.

NO

>> Repair the main line between the air bag diagnosis sensor unit and the data link connector.

Diagnosis Procedure

1.

CHECK CONNECTOR

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

3. Check the following terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection (connector side

and harness side).

Harness connector M91

-

Harness connector E26

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair the terminal and connector.

2.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

1. Disconnect the harness connectors M91 and E26.

2. Check the continuity between the data link connector and the harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair the main line between the data link connector and the harness connector M91.

3.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

1. Disconnect the connector of ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).

2. Check the continuity between the harness connector and the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit)

harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Check the following items again.

• Decision of CAN system type.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

3. Check the following terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection (unit side and con-

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect the connector of ECM.

2. Check the resistance between the ECM harness connector terminals.

VK engine models

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair the ECM branch line.

3.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the ECM. Refer to the following.

• VQ40DE: 

EC-97, "Diagnosis Procedure"

• VK56DE: 

EC-574, "Diagnosis Procedure"

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Replace the ECM. Refer to the following.

• VQ40DE: 

EC-24, "Procedure After Replacing ECM"

• VK56DE: 

EC-510, "Procedure After Replacing ECM"

YES (Past error)>>Error was detected in the ECM branch line.

NO

>> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.

Diagnosis Procedure

1.

CHECK CONNECTOR

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

3. Check the terminals and connectors of the A/T assembly for damage, bend and loose connection (unit

side and connector side).

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair the terminal and connector.

2.

CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect the connector of A/T assembly.

2. Check the resistance between the A/T assembly harness connector terminals.

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair the TCM branch line.

3.

CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT

1. Remove the control valve with TCM. Refer to 

TM-174, "Removal and Installation"

.

2. Disconnect the connector of TCM.

3. Check the continuity between the A/T assembly harness connector and TCM harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 4.

NO

>> Repair the harness between the A/T assembly harness connector and the TCM harness connec-

tor.

4.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the TCM. Refer to 

TM-100, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Replace the control valve with TCM. Refer to 

TM-174, "Removal and Installation"

.

YES (Past error)>>Error was detected in the TCM branch line.

NO

>> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect the connector of AV control unit.

2. Check the resistance between the AV control unit harness connector terminals.

With BOSE audio system with navigation system

-

With BOSE audio system without navigation system

-

With mid audio system

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair the AV control unit branch line.

3.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the AV control unit. Refer to the following.

• With BOSE audio system with navigation system: 

AV-371, "AV CONTROL UNIT : Diagnosis Procedure"

• With BOSE audio system without navigation system: 

AV-193, "AV CONTROL UNIT : Diagnosis Procedure"

• With mid audio system: 

AV-73, "AV CONTROL UNIT : Diagnosis Procedure"

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Replace the AV control unit. Refer to the following.

• With BOSE audio system with navigation system: 

AV-460, "Removal and Installation"

• With BOSE audio system without navigation system: 

AV-289, "Removal and Installation"

• With mid audio system: 

AV-141, "Removal and Installation"

YES (Past error)>>Error was detected in the AV control unit branch line.

NO

>> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.

CHECK CONNECTOR

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

3. Check the terminals and connectors of the Intelligent Key unit for damage, bend and loose connection

(unit side and connector side).

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect the connector of Intelligent Key unit.

2. Check the resistance between the Intelligent Key unit harness connector terminals.

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair the Intelligent Key unit branch line.

3.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the Intelligent Key unit. Refer to 

DLK-53, "INTELLIGENT

KEY UNIT : Diagnosis Procedure"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Replace the Intelligent Key unit.

YES (Past error)>>Error was detected in the Intelligent Key unit branch line.

NO

>> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.

YES

>> GO TO 2.

NO

>> Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect the connector of transfer control unit.

2. Check the resistance between the transfer control unit harness connector terminals.

All-mode 4WD models

Part time 4WD models

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair the transfer control unit branch line.

3.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the transfer control unit. Refer to the following.

• All-mode 4WD models: 

DLN-28, "Diagnosis Procedure"

• Part time 4WD models: 

DLN-204, "Diagnosis Procedure"

Is the inspection result normal?

YES (Present error)>>Replace the transfer control unit. Refer to the following.

• All-mode 4WD models: 

DLN-138, "Removal and Installation"

• Part time 4WD models: 

DLN-272, "Removal and Installation"

YES (Past error)>>Error was detected in the transfer control unit branch line.

NO

>> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.
