The ECM is responsible for regulating the idle speed as a function of the idle speed setpoint which it calcu-
lates.
• The idle speed setpoint is dependent on:
- Engine coolant temperature
- Emission control program
- Air conditioning requirement
- Gear engaged
- Electrical load
- Battery voltage
