INSPECTION PROCEDURE FOR TROUBLE SYMPTOMS

INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1

Communication with the MUT-

II

 is not possible

Probable cause

If communication with the MUT-

II

 is not possible, the cause is probably a malfunction

in the self-diagnosis system or the A/T-ECU is not functioning.



Malfunction of self-diagnosis system



Malfunction of A/T-ECU power circuit



Malfunction of A/T-ECU earth circuit



Malfunction of A/T-ECU



Malfunction of harness and connector

Check and repair the self-diagnosis 
system with the MUT-

II

YES

Measure at A/T-ECU connector D-45



Disconnect the connector and measure at the harness side.



Voltage between terminals 5 and 14 and the earth
(ignition switch: ON)
OK: System voltage



Continuity between terminal 19 and earth
OK: Continuity

OK

Replace the A/T-ECU.

NG

OK

Check the trouble symptoms.

NG

Replace the A/T-ECU.

Is communication with other systems possible using the MUT-

II

?

NG

Repair

OK

Check the following connectors:
<L.H. drive vehicles> D-46, D-34, C-37, C-70, C-35
<R.H. drive vehicles> D-46, D-34, C-39, C-70, C-35

Check the trouble symptoms.

Overdrive switch system

Probable cause

If downshifting does not occur when overdrive switch is turned off while driving
in 4th gear, or if shifting to 4th gear is not possible, the cause is probably a problem
in the overdrive switch system.

Malfunction of harness or connector



Malfunction of A/T-ECU



Malfunction of ignition switch

Check the harness wire between the overdrive switch and the
A/T-ECU.

Stop lamp switch system

Probable cause

If large shocks occur during squat control, the cause is probably a problem with
the stop lamp switch.
