CLOCK DISPLAY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Clock operation

• The clock has battery power supplied to terminal

4 from the relay box (fuse 22) via the intermedi-
ate connector (C-29), to memorize clock settings
and the ground circuit is to terminal 3 of the clock.
The clock too has accessory power supplied to
terminal 3 from (fuse 23) in the relay box via inter-
mediate connector (C-29), therefore clock will be

displayed on "ACC" and "ON" positions. The
clock illumination is only active when the park or
headlamps are turned to the "ON" position.
Power is supplied to terminal 4 of the clock
(C-06) from the tail lamp relay in the relay box,
via the (fuse 20) and the junction block.

• Refer to circuit diagrams GROUP-

90

• Refer to configuration diagrams GROUP-

80

Clock display diagnosis

• Clock display malfunction.

• Clock display not memorizing settings.

• Clock display illumination malfunction.

.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)

The ground circuit, the battery circuit, the ignition
switch (ACC) circuit or the headlamp switch  circuit is
suspected to be open or defective.

.

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tool:

• MB991223: Harness Set

STEP 1. Check the clock display unit  ground circuit.
Measure the resistance at the clock display unit  connector
C-06.
(1) Disconnect the clock display unit  connector C-06 and

measure at the harness side.

(2) Measure the resistance between terminal 1 and ground.

• The measured value should be 2 ohm or less.

Q: Does the measured resistance value correspond with

this range?
YES :
Go to Step 4.
NO :  Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the clock display unit  connector C-06 for
loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals
pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is the clock display unit  connector C-06 in good

condition?
YES :
Go to Step 3.
NO :  Repair or replace the connector. Refer to GROUP

00E, Harness Connector Inspection

P.00E-2

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between clock display
unit  connector C-06 (terminal 1) and ground.
Q: Is the wiring harness between multi-centre display unit

connector C-06 (terminal 1) and ground in good
condition?
YES :
There is no action to be taken.
NO :  Repair the wiring harness. The multi-centre display

unit  should work normally.

STEP 4. Check the clock display unit  power supply circuit
(battery). Measure the voltage at the multi-centre display
unit  connector C-06.
(1) Disconnect the multi-centre display unit  connector C-06

and measure at the harness side.

(2) Measure the voltage between terminal 4 and ground.

• The measured value should be approximately 12 volts

(battery positive voltage).

Q: Does the measured voltage correspond with this range?

YES : Go to Step 7.
NO :  Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check clock display unit  connector C-06 for
loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals
pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is clock display unit  connector C-06 in good condition?

YES : Go to Step 6.
NO :  Repair or replace the connector. Refer to GROUP

00E, Harness Connector Inspection

P.00E-2

. The

multi-centre display unit  should work normally.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between C-06 (terminal
4) and battery.

NOTE: Also check intermediate connector C-29 for loose, cor-
roded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the
connector. If intermediate connector C-29 is damaged, repair or
replace the wiring harness. Refer to GROUP 00E, Harness
Connector Inspection

P.00E-2

.

Q: Is the wiring harness between C-06 and battery in good

condition?
YES :
There is no action to be taken.
NO :  Repair the wiring harness. The clock display unit

should work normally.

STEP 7. Check the clock display unit  power supply circuit
[ignition switch (ACC)]. Measure the voltage at the clock
display unit  connector C-06.
(1) Disconnect the clock display unit  connector C-06 and

measure at the harness side.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to "ACC" position.

(3) Measure the voltage between terminal 3 and ground by

backprobing.

• The measured value should be approximately 12 volts

(battery positive voltage).

Q: Does the measured voltage correspond with this range?

YES : Go to Step 10.
NO :  Go to Step 8.
