DIAGNOSIS CODE PROCEDURES

LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN)

Code No.U1530: Column-ECU checksum error

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If any abnormality is found with the column-ECU, the 
ETACS-ECU stores the diagnosis code No.U1530.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the lighting switch

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the 
ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.

(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) 

position to "ON" position.

(3) On completion, check that the diagnosis code is 

reset.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES : 

Replace the lighting switch.

NO : 

A poor connection, open circuit or other 
intermittent malfunction is present in the LIN 
bus lines between the column switch and 
the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00, How 
to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service 
Points

Code No.U1532: LIN comm. lighting control sensor <Vehicles with auto lamp>

NOTE: When the diagnosis codes relating to the LIN 
communication error are set, make sure of the vehi-
cle equipment. When the vehicle is not equipped with 
the system the ETACS-ECU communicates to, the 
diagnosis code is always set. This is not abnormal.
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If any abnormality is found with the lighting control 
sensor, the ETACS-ECU stores the diagnosis code 
No.U1532.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the lighting control sensor

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the 
ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) 

position to "ON" position.

(3) Check if diagnosis code is set.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES : 

Replace the lighting control sensor.

NO : 

A poor connection, open circuit or other 
intermittent malfunction is present in the LIN 
bus lines between the lighting control 
sensor and the ETACS-ECU (Refer to 
GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/

Code No.U1534: Power window main switch checksum error

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If any abnormality is found with the power window 
main switch, the ETACS-ECU stores the diagnosis 
code No.U1534.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the power window main switch

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the 
ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) 

position to "ON" position.

(3) On completion, check that the diagnosis code is

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If any abnormality is found with the front power win-
dow sub switch, the ETACS-ECU stores the diagno-
sis code No.U1535.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the front power window sub switch

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the 
ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.

(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) 

position to "ON" position.

(3) On completion, check that the diagnosis code is 

reset.

Q: Is the diagnosis code set?

YES : 

Replace the front power window sub switch.

NO : 

A poor connection, open circuit or other

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If any abnormality is found with the rear power win-
dow sub switch (LH), the ETACS-ECU stores the 
diagnosis code No.U1536.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the rear power window sub switch 

(LH)

Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the 
ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.

(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF)

If any abnormality is found with the rear panel power 
window-ECU, the ETACS-ECU stores the diagnosis 
code No.U1538.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the rear panel power window-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set to the 
ETACS-ECU.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.

(2) Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) 

position to "ON" position.

(3) On completion, check that the diagnosis code is 

reset.

YES :

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
The ETACS-ECU will set diagnosis code No. U1570 
when no communication has been carried out for 
more than a certain period after the slave task 
received last valid data.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU

• Malfunction of the slave ECU

• LIN bus lines shorted to power supply

• LIN bus lines shorted to earth
