S/N Operation Test

Results

Actions

Connect the diagnostic instrument and adapter, and turn the

ignition switch to ON.

 Next

step

Yes

Go to step 6

Check the “coolant temperature” as per the data flow. Does it

match with the temperature of the engine (related to the

temperature of the engine at that moment)?

Note: If the temperature is often -40 , open circuit may occur.

No Next

step

Measure the voltage between pin 1# and pin 2# with a

multimeter. Is the voltage about 5V?

No Next

step

Yes

Repair or replace

harness

Check for short to ground between pin 39#, 35# of the ECU

and the pin 1#, 2# of the sensor with a multimeter.

No Next

step

Yes Diagnosis

help

Start the engine, and keep idle speed. Check the “coolant

temperature” on the diagnostic instrument. At this moment, the

temperature will increase with the rise of the engine coolant

temperature.

No Replace
