If any of these DTC’s are present, perform their respective tests first.
Are DTC’s P1791, P0715, P0720, P1794, P1720, P1721, P1722, or P1724 present
also?

Refer to appropriate symptom in the Transmission category. If
any of these codes are present, they will cause a speed ratio error.
Go to test for P-1791 first if it is present.
Perform 45RFE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER

With the DRBIII
t, perform the 2nd prime Gear Clutch Test. Follow the instructions
on the DRBIII
t. Increase the throttle angle to 30° for no more than 30 seconds.
Caution: Do not overheat the transmission
Did the clutch test pass (Input speed remains at zero)?

The conditions to set this code are not currently present.
Check the gearshift linkage adjustment.
Intermittent gear ratio codes can be set by problems in the Input and Output Speed
Sensor circuits and/or Speed Sensor Ground circuit.
Check the speed sensor wiring and connectors for good connection, then perform a
wiggle test using the Transmission Simulator (Miller tool # 8333).
Gear ratio DTC’s can also be set under extreme temperature conditions, this is
usually caused by an internal problem. Ask the customer if the problem is only
experienced under extreme hot or cold conditions.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring
and connectors.

If the transmission is to be repaired, and there were any line pressure DTC’s present
along with this DTC, make sure to inspect the pump and Pressure Control Solenoid
per service manual instructions.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
