sound when the driver safety belt is not fastened or when the ignition switch is turned from the OFF/LOCK or
ACC to the RUN or START position.

The safety belt warning chime will stop sounding when:

z

driver safety belt switch (grounded when not fastened, open circuit when fastened)

Belt Minder

The belt minder feature supplements the current safety belt warning function. The belt minder feature is enabled
after the current safety belt warning is complete. If the driver saftey belt is not buckled approximately five
seconds after the safety belt warning light had turned off, the belt minder reminds the driver that their safety belt
is unbuckled by intermittently sounding a chime and illuminating the safety belt warning lamp in the instrument
cluster. While activated, the belt minder alternates the chime and indicator from on for 6 seconds to off for 30
seconds.

The belt minder reminder stops when:

z

the driver safety belt is buckled.

z

the ignition is turned to OFF or ACC

z

five minutes have elapsed since belt minder has started.

NOTE:

The belt minder feature is configurable. If configuring using a diagnostic tool,

3. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC)

located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If
the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:

z

Check that the program card is correctly installed.

z

Check the connections to the vehicle.

z

Check the ignition switch position.

4. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool instruction.

5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the diagnostic tool responds with:

z

CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to MODULE
COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
 .

z

NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for GEM/CTM, go to Pinpoint Test A.

z

NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for RCM, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - F150 PICKUP

z

SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the
continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the RCM, GEM or CTM.

6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to GEM/CTM Module Diagnostic Trouble Code

(DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.

7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
