DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 

HORN 

The horn system includes the following components: 

z

steering wheel pad horn switch (part of driver side air bag module)  

z

horn relay (located in the battery junction box [BJB])  

z

horns (located underneath the passenger side headlights behind the front bumper)  

z

clockspring  

z

central security module  

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

Inspection and Verification 

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the horn. 

For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - F150 PICKUP . 

The central security module is located under the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. For 
removal and installation of the central security module, refer to MODULE - CENTRAL SECURITY 
MODULE (CSM) . 

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

The steering wheel pad horn switch is part of the driver side air bag 
module.

proceeding to the next step.
