1. For RWD vehicles, using the Output Shaft Oil Seal Installer (308-382), install a NEW output oil seal. See 

Fig. 22 . Coat the outer diameter of the NEW seal with gasket and trim adhesive. Apply Threadlock 262 
to the threads of the transmission flange lock nut. Using the Drive Pinion Flange Holding Fixture (205-
126) and Mainshaft Lock Nut Socket (36 mm) (308-127), install the transmission flange. See Fig. 20 .  

2. For 4WD vehicles, using the Output Shaft Oil Seal Installer (308-383), install a NEW output oil seal. See 

Fig. 23 . Coat the outer diameter of the NEW seal with gasket and trim adhesive. Install the transfer case.

3. Connect the rear driveshaft. See appropriate DRIVESHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in 

DRIVELINE/AXLES.

VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR 

Removal & Installation (G5M) 

Disconnect Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) harness connector. See Fig. 24 and Fig. 25 . Remove retaining bolt 
and VSS. See Fig. 26 and Fig. 27 . To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolt to specification. See 
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
