Ford F150 Pickup. Instruction - part 1843

Installation

1. Clean and inspect valve body thoroughly. Do not clean rubber check balls with solvent. If separator plate

was not removed, go to step 4 .

2. Apply petroleum jelly on valve body separator plate where check balls are to be placed. Lightly coat 8

rubber check balls and EPC steel check ball with petroleum jelly and place in position on separator plate.
See Fig. 48 .

3. Apply petroleum jelly to EPC check ball and spring and install into case. See Fig. 49 . Case must be dry

and free of ATF, or petroleum jelly will not hold spring and check ball in place while installing separator
plate. The word UP on reinforcing plate MUST be visible. Install separator plate, gaskets and reinforcing
plate. Tighten separator plate retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

4. Install solenoid screen and lock in place. Install the solenoid body assembly nut and bolts. See Fig. 45 .

Finger-tighten solenoid body assembly nut and bolts. Install the valve body, aligning the instruction shift
valve with the manual valve detent lever.

5. Install and finger-tighten the valve body nuts and bolts. If previously installed, remove, then reinstall the

bolt into the separator plate reinforcing plate. See Fig. 47 . Install accumulator body and finger-tighten
the nuts and bolts. Tighten all the accumulator body, valve body, and solenoid body nuts and bolts.
Tighten the bolts working from the center to the outside. See Fig. 41 , Fig. 43 and Fig. 45 .

6. Install the transmission fluid filter, gasket and pan. Tighten transmission fluid pan bolts to specification.

Coat case connector bore with petroleum jelly and install solenoid body retaining bolts and nut, then
tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect the solenoid body harness
connector. Lower the vehicle. Connect the battery ground cable. Fill the transmission with appropriate
fluid to proper level and check for correct transmission operation. See LUBRICATION .

1. Drain the transmission fluid and remove the transmission fluid pan and filter. See DRAINING &

REFILLING under LUBRICATION.

2. Disconnect the molded lead frame from the solenoids. Disconnect the shift solenoid shift solenoids "A"

CAUTION: Do not pull on the molded lead frame. This may cause damage to the
