INTERMEDIATE SERVO (4R100) 

Removal 

Remove the main control valve body. See VALVE BODY & INTERMEDIATE BAND SERVO (4R100) . 
Gently tap on the servo cover with a rubber mallet to compress and allow servo assembly to pop up. Remove 
the intermediate servo. 

Installation 

WARNING:

The intermediate servo is under spring pressure, care should be taken 
when removing it. It could cause bodily harm.

Lubricate the servo seal with clean ATF. Install the intermediate band servo. Install the main control valve 
body. See VALVE BODY & INTERMEDIATE BAND SERVO (4R100) . 

MANUAL LEVER SHAFT & SEAL 

Removal (4R100) 

1. Shift vehicle into neutral. Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove oil pan, filter and "O" ring. See 

DRAINING & REFILLING under LUBRICATION. Disconnect shift cable from Transmission Range 
(TR) sensor. Remove TR sensor. See TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR .  

2. Discard filter and "O" ring. DO NOT scratch or damage aluminum pump bore. Using Retaining Pin 

Remover (211-S060), remove instruction lever shaft retaining pin. See Fig. 29 . A No. 53 drill bit (1/16") can 
be used instead of retaining pin remover. 

3. Hold instruction control lever with crescent wrench on outer flats. Using appropriate size box wrench, 

remove inner detent lever nut. See Fig. 30 . Remove inner detent lever and park actuating rod assembly 
from instruction control lever shaft. Remove manual control lever shaft. Remove manual control lever shaft 
seal. See Fig. 31 .  

NOTE:

Outer instruction control lever and manual control lever shaft are one piece.
