1. Depress the locking tabs on the accelerator pedal drive cable and remove the drive cable from the 

accelerator pedal assembly.  

2. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly.

3. Remove the bolts and remove the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly.

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.  

ACCELERATOR CABLE - 4.2L 

Removal and Installation 

1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal and shaft. 

NOTE:

When installing a new accelerator pedal, the pedal will come in the fully 
forward or fully rearward position. Before connecting the accelerator pedal 
drive cable, move the brake pedal to the same position as the accelerator 
pedal.

2. Remove the accelerator cable from the dash panel.  

3. From inside the vehicle, compress the retaining tabs on the cable and push the cable into the engine 

compartment until the retaining tabs are disconnected from the dash panel.  

4. Pull the accelerator cable through the dash panel.
