6. Install the front drive axle assembly. For additional information, refer to FRONT DRIVE 

AXLE/DIFFERENTIAL-FORD 8.8-INCH .  

7. Lower the vehicle.  

8. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, 

MOUNTING AND CABLES - F150 PICKUP .  

9. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.

Removal 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, 

MOUNTING AND CABLES - F150 PICKUP .  

2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & 

HOISTING .  

3. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.

4. Remove the oil bypass filter.
