BRAKE LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT (CONTINUED)

CHECK THE BRAKE LAMP RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

Turn the ignition off.

Measure the resistance between ground and the Brake Lamp Relay
Output circuit at Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 5.

Is the resistance above 100 kohms?

Yes

>> Go to 20

No

>> Repair the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit for a short to

ground.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

CHECK THE BRAKE LAMP RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

With the ignition off.

Measure the resistance of the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit from
CAB harness connector cavity 17 to Brake Lamp Relay harness con-
nector cavity 5.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

>> Replace the Brake Lamp Relay.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

No

>> Repair the Brake Lamp Relay Output circuit for an open.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE THE FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE AT BRAKE LAMP SWITCH

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect Brake Lamp Switch harness connector B.

Turn the ignition on.

Measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit at
Brake Lamp Switch harness connector B cavity 1.

Is the voltage above 10 volts?

Yes

>> Go to 22

No

>> Repair the Fused Ignition Output circuit for an open.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH B OUTPUT CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

Turn the ignition off.

Measure the resistance of the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit
from Brake Lamp Switch harness connector B cavity 2 to Brake Lamp
Relay harness connector cavity 8.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

>> Go to 23

No

>> Repair the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit for an

open.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

MEASURE THE RESISTANCE BETWEEN GROUND AND THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH B OUTPUT
CIRCUIT

With the ignition off.

Measure the resistance between ground and the Brake Lamp Switch B
Output circuit at Brake Lamp Relay harness connector cavity 8.

Is the resistance above 100 kohms?

Yes

>> Replace the Brake Lamp Switch.

No

>> Repair the Brake Lamp Switch B Output circuit for a short

to ground.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
