REMOVAL DEPLOYED PASSENGER AIRBAG For deployed passenger airbags, the instrument 1. Open hood. 2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system 3. Remove instrument panel (Refer to 23 - BODY/IN- STRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVAL). 4. Disconnect the passenger airbag electrical connec- tor (3). 5. Remove the four left and right passenger airbag mounting screws (1). 6. Remove the two lower passenger airbag mounting bolts (2). 7. Separate passenger airbag from instrument panel. 8. Remove and inspect all reusable components from the instrument panel and transfer to the new instrument panel top pad. 9. Clean powder residue from interior of vehicle (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS - STANDARD PROCE- DURE - SERVICE AFTER AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT). NONDEPLOYED PASSENGER AIRBAG 1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. WARNING: Wait two minutes for the airbag system 2. Remove the right side silencer pad (Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL SILENCER - REMOVAL). 8O - 406 RESTRAINTS - SERVICE INFORMATION LX |
