2. Position the auxiliary battery negative cable ground terminal to the left cylinder head and 

install the bolt. 

Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). 

3. Connect the auxiliary battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable 

Disconnection and Connection (w/Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable 

NOTE:

Refer to Fastener Notice .

Disconnection and Connection (w/Auxiliary Battery) or Battery Negative Cable 
Disconnection and Connection (w/Dual Batteries).  

BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE REPLACEMENT (4.3L) 

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection 

and Connection (w/Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and 
Connection (w/Auxiliary Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and

Connection (w/Dual Batteries).  

2. Remove the under hood junction block cover.

3. Lift the junction block retainers from the locked position (3) and rotate the retainers to the 

open position (1).  

4. Remove the junction block.

5. Remove the positive battery cable connector (1) from the underhood bussed electrical 

center (UBEC).
