1. Install the clutch fork inner spring into the differential carrier case assembly, if necessary.  

2. Install the clutch fork assembly (2) into the inner axle shaft housing (1).  

3. Install the inner axle shaft and housing assembly. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft 

and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 F4WD Axle) or Front Drive Axle Inner 
Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 S4WD and 9.25 Axles).  

FRONT DRIVE AXLE CLUTCH SHAFT BEARING REPLACEMENT 

Tools Required 

J 34011 Pilot Bearing Remover. See Special Tools.  

J 33842 Pilot Bearing Installer. See Special Tools.  

2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 

2008 Driveline/Axle Front Drive Axle - Cab & Chassis Sierra, Cab & Chassis Silverado, Sierra & Silverado

Removal Procedure 

1. Remove the inner axle shaft and housing assembly. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft 

and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 F4WD Axle) or Front Drive Axle Inner 
Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 S4WD and 9.25 Axles).  

2. Remove the clutch shaft from the differential carrier assembly.

3. Remove the clutch shaft pilot bearing using the J 34011 . See Special Tools.  

Installation Procedure 

 

2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 

2008 Driveline/Axle Front Drive Axle - Cab & Chassis Sierra, Cab & Chassis Silverado, Sierra & Silverado

  

1. Lubricate the bearing with axle lubricant. Use the proper fluid. Refer to Fluid and 

Lubricant Recommendations .
