system. The idling speed is high when
the   engine   starts,   which   is
advantageous   to   increase   the
temperature   of   the   engine.   After   the
temperature   of   the   engine   rise,   the
idling   speed   shall   decrease
automatically. If the idling speed fails
to   decrease   automatically,   you   shall
get   to   the   Chery   Authorized   Service
Station to make your vehicle repaired.
Do not make the engine operate at the
speed, which is more than the specific
idling speed, for above 10 minutes.

Before the vehicle starts:

Confirm   that   all   passengers
fasten  their   safety   belt.   For  the
safety belt and its instruction, see
the   Chapter  “Seat  and  Safety

Protection”

Confirm that the front headlamp
and other electrical accessories
power off.

Confirm that the hand brake is
pulled up.

For   the   automatic   transmission
type   vehicle,   confirm   that   the
gear   selecting   rod   in   the   P
(Parking) position.

The engine can start only when
the automatic transmission lever
is in the N or P position.

Your vehicle is equipped with the
auxiliary lockup device for the
gear shifting level, which the
device will be available when the

gear shifting level is in the P
position.

After the engine starts, step the
foot brake and press the locking
button to move the gear shifting
level.

For the manual transmission type
vehicle, confirm that the gear
shifting level is in the neutral
position.

Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position other than the START
position.

If it needs great effort to turn the key,
you   can   turn   the   steering   wheel
leftwards and rightwards until the key
can   be   turned   freely.   This   may   be
conducted   by   the   following   several

reasons:



The front wheel deflects.



The front wheel touches the curb.



The steering wheel is turned
when you go abroad or get down.

Turn on the ignition key, and, at
the  same  time, confirm  that  the
instrument   panel   warning   lamp
lights for a short time. If the lamp
doesn’t light, it is required to get
to the Chery Authorized Service
Station   to   make   your   vehicle
required.

If the driver’s safety belt is already
fastened tightly before the ignition
key is turned on, the safety belt
warning lamp doesn’t light.

Start the engine

Turn the ignition switch to the
START position, do not step on
the gas pedal, and release the
key immediately after the engine
starts up. Here, the key will come
back to the ON position.

If the temperature is more than
-12C and it is difficult to start the
engine within 5 seconds for the
first start, then you shall turn the
key to the OFF position and wait
for 10 seconds to have a retry.

IF the temperature is less than
-12C and it is difficult to start the
engine within 5 seconds for the
first start, then you shall turn the
key to the OFF position and wait

for 10 seconds to have a retry. If
the   engine   fails   to   start  twice
continuously, you can step on the
gas   pedal   to   the   extreme   and
keep this position, and then turn
the   key   to   the   START   position.
After   the   engine   starts,   release
the   key,   and   then   release   the
accelerator   pedal   slowly   as   the
engine speed increases.

For   the   automatic   transmission
type   vehicle,   after   the   engine
starts,   it   operates   for   several
seconds at the idling speed, and
then you step on the foot brake,
release   the  hand   brake   and
change to a drive gear to prepare
for driving.

Please pull up the
hand brake or step on

the foot brake before changing
the gear, or the vehicle may
move and create injury to you
when changing the gear.

For the manual transmission type
vehicle, after the engine starts, it
operates   for  several  seconds  at
the   idling   speed,   and   then   you
step on the clutch, change to a
drive gear and release the  hand
brake to prepare for driving.

Caution against the
exhaust fume from a

vehicle

Although the exhaust fume of a
vehicle is colorless and odorless, it
contains the carbon monoxide. Thus,
you shall caution about its harm.

If you smell the odor of
exhaust fume in your

vehicle,   please   call   the   Chery
Authorized   Service   Station   to
check your vehicle. Do not drive
your   vehicle  continuously.   The
exhaust   fume   is   noxious   and
may endanger your life.

In the following cases, the exhaust
system and body ventilating system of

a vehicle shall be checked.



When the vehicle is lifted to
overhaul.



When the sound of exhaust
system changes.



When the vehicle is damaged
due to impact.

Some component of the
exhaust from the engine
and some chemicals

contained   in   or   given   off   from
some   automotive   parts   may
cause  cancer   or  create   the
neonate   defect   or   other   genital
system damage.

Attention to ventilation

If   your   vehicle   stops   on   an   open
location   with   a   long   time   idling,   you
shall open the window to the height of
over   2.5   cm   or   switch   on   the
ventilation   function   of   the

air

conditioning system to make the fresh
air enter into the vehicle.

Remove the snow,
leaf and other foreign

materials which block the air

intake, and improve the
ventilation capacity of a vehicle.

Engine control system
self-adapting function

If the battery cell lines had ever been
removed from the battery, then there
are   some   abnormal   phenomena
during   the   initial   stage   of   vehicle
driving   after   the   lines   are   connected
again. This is that the engine control
system

learning

and

accommodating the engine again. And
this phenomenon can be neglected.

Engine speed limitator

The engine speed is limited by an
electronic device to protect the engine.
