17.  Time control valve 

During transition between clutches, the time control valve controls the delay time for the clutch’s 

engagement and disengagement. The delay time is same with the shuttle valve’s buffer time and 

irrelevant with 4

 traction valve and 4

th

-3

rd

 downshift valve.   

   

18.  Throttle control valve   

The throttle control valve is on the power transfer oil circuit and controls the oil pressure on time 

control valve and brake C by controlling the time of oil feed.

Centrifugal governor   

The centrifugal governor is installed on and rotates along with the driven shaft. The governor is 

used to produce the oil pressure on the governor to provide an oil pressure varying with the vehicle 

speed for the control system.   

 

Three-level governor   

 

Condition I.   

The oil pressure provided by the main oil circuit from position 3-2 valve to position 1 valve does 

not change. The valve rotates together with the driven shaft. The slide valve and centrifugal block 

moves outwards under the centrifugal force and opens the oil inlet. Thus, the pressure of the main 

oil circuit comes into the governor to cause oil pressure on the governor. Meanwhile, the governor’s 

oil pressure acts on the slide valve and closes the oil inlet somewhat until the oil pressure of the 

governor is balanced with the centrifugal force on the slide valve.   

 

Condition II.   

Since the centrifugal block integrated with the slide valve in the governor has a greater mass and 

centrifugal force and along with an increased vehicle speed, the oil pressure on the governor that is 

balanced with the centrifugal force is also increased dramatically until the centrifugal block stops to 

move outwards.   

 

Condition III.   

When the centrifugal block stops to move outwards, the slide valve could not move outwards under 

its own centrifugal force. Due to the slide valve’s small mass, its centrifugal force increases slowly 

along the RPM changes. Hence, the oil pressure of the governor that is balanced with it also 

changes little.   

The governor’s oil pressure changes along with the vehicle speed’s changes so that 
the oil pressure on oil circuit in each control element also changes. Then automatic 
shift is realized by the throttle oil pressure.
