Maintenance Instruction 

  In order to assure the maintenance quality of transmission, 

operate carefully and keep the 

transmission clean

.  

  Select proper tools. 
  General safety rules are also applicable to the maintenance of transmission AQ015. 

 

In order to avoid repetition, the same instructions during the whole maintenance are described as 

follows: 

Transmission 
-  When installing new transmission, add sufficient lubricant. For volume and specifications, 

please refer to technical parameter.   

-  When installing transmission assembly onto the engine, pay attention to the correct alignment 

of locating pin and the pin hole.   

Seal Washer 

-  Seal washers should be replaced from time to time. Clean their contact surfaces before 

replacement.  

-  Completely clean the interface.   
-  Apply sealant if necessary.   

Oil Seal   
-  Before installation, apply a coat of lubricant slightly onto the 

outer loop

 and fill the clearance 

between the lips of oil seal with grease.   

-  After installation, check the volume of lubricant of transmission; add lubricant if necessary,   

Snap Ring 
-  Never expand the snap ring too much against distortion; if distorted, change it.   
-  Ensure the ring clipped into the ring groove completely.   

Bolt & Nut   
-  Loosen or tighten in a diagonal way the bolts or nuts on the end cap and housing of 

transmission.  

-  Tightening torque applies to the oil-free bolts and nuts.   

Bearing 
-  When installing the needle roller bearings, place the thicker side against the mounting tools.   
-  When installing, apply lubricant onto all bearings with transmission lubricant.   
-  Before installation, heat the inner loop of tapered roller bearings up to 100℃. 
-  Never confuse the outer loops and inner loops of bearings despite their same dimensions.   
-  The tapered roller bearings on the same shaft should be changed together; the type of bearings 

should be identical.   

Shim Adjusting 
-  Use caliper to measure repeatedly the thickness of shims groups on their positions.   
-  Check whether the shims have blurs or are damaged; if damaged, change them.

Synch Ring 
-  Except for gear 4 and gear 5, the synch ring of each gear cannot be replaced with each other.   
-  When using the synch rings again, they should match the original gear.   
-  Check the wear and tear, and replace them if necessary.   
-  When installing, use transmission lubricant.   

Gear 
-  Before press-in, clean and heat it up to approximately 100℃  on the heated disk.   

Lubrication Oil Level of Transmission 
-  When installing, incline the engine/transmission assembly by 19°to left.   

In this time, though the oil volume is at its normal level in check, lubricant may also flow out 

from the inspection hole, thus the remained lubricant may not have ideal effect.   

In odder to assure normal volume of lubricant for the 5-gear transmission AQ015, attention 

must be paid to the following points:   

1.  Since the exterior of transmission is sealed, there is no need to check the level of lubricant 

but to check the tightness of the exterior (Do not open the greasing bolts of lubricant).   

2.  After the transmission is dissembled and repaired, please add in 2.0L lubricant before 

re-installation onto the car.   

3.  When checking the oil level of dissembled transmission, please put the transmission on 

level position and unscrew the draining bolts; the oil should be at the same level as 

draining plug.   

4.  While checking the oil level, if it is needed to change the seal ring, be careful when 

unscrewing the draining plug. If necessary, the plug can be pulled out but only for a short 

time, and it must be put on immediately.
