MONITOR DTC STATUS 

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).  

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".  

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.  

4. Is the DTC B2456 present? 

YES  

Go to TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION procedure. 

NO  

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and 
ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, 
corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to 
"VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure. 

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION 

Refer to DTC B1954

SIGNAL CIRCUIT INSPECTION 

1. Check for open in harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Measure resistance between terminal "11" of IMS and terminal "3" of power seat slide sensor.  

3. Measure resistance between terminal "29" of IMS and terminal "3" of power seat recline sensor.  

4. Measure resistance between terminal "28" of IMS and terminal "3" of front height sensor.  

5. Measure resistance between terminal "10" of IMS and terminal "3" of rear height sensor. 

Specification :Approx. 0 ohms

6. Is the measured resistance within specifications? 

YES  

Go to step 2. 

NO  

Check for open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

2. Check for short in harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Disconnect seat sensor (slide, recline, front height, rear height).  

3. Measure resistance between terminal "10, 11, 28, 29" of IMS and chassis ground. 

Specification :Approx. infinity ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within specifications? 

YES  

Go to "POWER CIRCUIT INSPECTION" procedure. 

NO  

Check for short in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION 

1. Check for open in harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Measure resistance between terminal "6" of IMS and terminal "3" of seat sensor (slide, recline, 

front height, rear height). 

Specification: Approx. 0 ohms

3. Is the measured resistance within specifications? 

YES  

Go to step 2. 

NO  

Check for open in power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure.

2. Disconnect seat sensor (slide, recline, front height, rear height)  

3. Measure resistance between terminal "6" of IMS and chassis ground. 

Specification :Approx. infinity ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within specifications? 

YES  

Go to "COMPONENT INSPECTION" procedure. 

NO  

Check for short in power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

COMPONENT INSPECTION 

1. Check IMS 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Measure voltage between terminal "6" of IMS and chassis ground. 

Specification: 5V
